Maci definitely made Christmas fun this year! Every time she opened a gift she said "WOW" in the most excited voice. It was so cute! Maci and Daddy putting the reindeer food out on Christmas Eve.

It's so hard to believe that one year ago today our precious Maci was placed in our arms. I remember that day so vividly. We woke up very early--neither one of us could sleep. We just couldn't wait to see our baby girl. We flew to Nanchang that morning and as soon as we got to the hotel, we only had an hour before we boarded a bus with 14 other families to pick up our babies. I remember being so nervous. What if she didn't like me? What would I do if she cried? And how would I comfort this scared little girl? I remember praying to God to show me what to do.

When we got to the Adoption Center we were led to the 26th floor. We entered a big room where all of the babies were waiting. I remember walking around the room trying to find our baby girl. Donnie and I both spotted Maci at the same time. Maci, you were all bundled up in your pretty pink coat. You looked like a little peanut. I wonder if you knew that your whole life was about to change. We stood back as other families names were being called. Then we heard the words--"Farmer Family." This is it! This is what we have been waiting 21 months for! Our little blessing from God! We showed them our passports and they placed you in my arms! It is very hard to describe in words how I felt at that very moment! Me and Daddy were so overwhelmed with joy! Our prayers for a beautiful little girl were answered!

For Maci's first Gotcha Day we decided to go eat at our favorite Japanese Restaurant in Evansville. (I know it's not Chinese, but close enough) Both sets of grandparents went also! It was such a great day! I dressed Maci in her red and green silk outfit from China. She looked so sweet.

I dressed Maci in her red Santa dress for church today. I think she thought she was Santa Claus, because all she could do was say "Ho Ho Ho" all day long! I managed to snap a few pictures of her in front of the Christmas tree before we left for church. What a pretty girl!
What you talking about Santa?

Every year since I was a little girl, my grandparents have taken me to their Christmas Dinner at the Moose in Albion. We have carried that tradition on to my kids. So, on the first Thursday in December, we all load up in the van and drive to Albion to have dinner with my granny and gramps at the Moose. Then the kids get to sit on Santas lap and tell them what they want for Christmas. After that, we all go to the grandparents house and put up their Christmas tree. It's something that we all look forward to every year at Christmas time.
It was Maci's first time seeing Santa up close. She wouldn't sit on his lap or even get close to him unless I was holding her. So, her first Santa picture has mommy in it. As you can see, she wasn't going to take her eyes off of him for a second.

Here is a picture of Dillon, Peyton and Maci with Granny and Gramps Yokel. Grandma didn't want to take the picture because she didn't have her wig (Gretchen) on. I think she's beautiful with or without it!

After the Christmas Parade we all went home and decorated Christmas cookies. Maci had so much fun! She was such a big girl! I think she decorated about 6 cookies all by herself. I'm not sure if she got more icing and sprinkles on the cookies, on the floor or in her mouth! Today was such a great day for the whole family!

Mommy, can you tell I've been sampling the cookies?

Maci is carefully putting the icing on her cookie. Isn't she such a big girl?

Today is Mt. Carmel's annual Christmas Parade. We haven't been in several years, but we are pretty excited to see how Maci reacts to the floats and seeing Santa Clause for the first time.
Maci's all bundled up and ready for the parade.

Mommy and Maci!!!

Maci and Daddy!

It was pretty cold! As you can tell by Dillon and Peyton.

It was so much fun putting up the Christmas trees this year. Maci just had a ball putting the ornament on. (when she could get them to stay and not fall off) I always put a tree upstairs in the Living Rooom and I decorate that one. Then I let the kids decorate the tree in the Family Room. But this year, Maci got to help with mommy's tree.
Here's a video of Maci TRYING to put her ornament on the tree.

Maci decorating the Christmas tree!

She had a little trouble trying to get this one to stay on the tree!

Grandma Barb got Maci this little elf hat. She loves wearing it around the house. You can't see them in this picture, but the hat has elf ears on it.

We spent our Thanksgiving at Donnie's Aunt Susan's and Uncle Tim's in Princeton, IN. We had such a great time and got to eat lots of good food! Whitney went to Greg's grandmas house for dinner, but she ended up showing up later in the afternoon. We were all really excited that she came.
Maci just fit right in with the Farmer family. She wasn't shy at all, which was great! I can finally see her settling into the family and realizing we are her family and we are never going to leave her. She has brought so much joy to our home. It almost brings tears to my eyes to see Whitney, Dillon and Peyton with her. They love her so much, and Maci loves them too! This year we are so thankful to have four wonderful and beautiful children to love.
Our family of 6!

This weekend was the first gun season for deer hunting in Southern Illinois. Donnie left Thursday after he got off of work for Salem. A big group of men go there to camp and hunt for deer. It's a lot of fun for Donnie. He called me Friday evening to let me know he shot a 10-point buck. He was pretty excited! He had to put it on top of the pop-up camper to bring it home since the 4-wheeler was in the back of the truck. I'm sure that was a sight to see going down the highway. I snapped this pic of him with the deer and then I wanted to get one with Maci. She wasn't too cracked up about getting her picture taken with a dead deer.

This was as close as Maci would get to the deer.

Our High School Football team went to Bloomington to play in the state semi-finals today. We didn't go to the game, but as you can see, we supported our team from home. I had Maci wear her Golden Aces sweatshirt and we listened to the game on the radio. Unfortunately we lost the game by one point. We are very proud of our football team and how well they played this year. Next year Dillon will be playing football as a freshman in high school. Wow-that will be exciting!

I snapped some pictures of Maci after church today in her pretty polka dot dress. Maci's Aunt Pat got her that dress when we brought her home from China. It's a 12 month dress and she is just now fitting into it. I think she just looks adorable!!!

I just love this black and white picture of Maci!

What a beautiful smile!

Maci is laughing at me in this picture because I put a leaf on my head!

I made cookies tonight and I let Maci lick the beaters. She definitely likes cookie dough!!!

Yummy!!! One for each hand!

Maci loves for me to sing the "I Love You" song to her. (She must love me a lot, because I certainly am not a very good singer) Tonight while I sang it to her, she tried to sing it too. What a sweet little voice!!!

Today I took Maci to "Blades" to get her very first haircut. Dillon has been telling us for months that we needed to go get Maci's bangs cut--so today was the day. I snapped a picture of her hair before...
Then the screaming began!
Still screaming...
...and still more screaming!!!

I took this video of her getting her haircut. As you can tell, she didn't like it. But, at least she sat still.

...and here is the after. As soon as Christy was finished cutting her hair, I picked Maci up and she instantly stopped crying. What a beautiful little girl!

We had our Fall Festival at church on Sunday, October 28th. It was Maci's first Fall Festival and I think she had a great time! We dressed her up as a little ladybug. I have to say--she was just adorable! I dressed up as a girl from the 80's. I can't believe that I actually dressed this way in high school. It was so much fun though.

When we first got to the church, we did the trunk or treat. Maci really didn't understand what she was doing. Debbie took a pic of me and Maci outside. Don't you love our outfits?

Then we went inside for all the fun! Maci absolutely loved the "Kids Corner", a play area for ages 3 and under. She got in the pool with packing peanuts and didn't want to get out. She also got in the jumping castle, but when other kids started jumping too she freaked out! I had to work the Fall Festival, so Auntie Debbie watched Maci for a little bit. She took her outside for a pony ride, but Maci wouldn't get on the pony at all.

Gabi Peach dressed up like a ladybug too! She just got home from China about a month ago.

It was a great night for Maci! By the time we got home she was all pooped out and ready for bed.

Maci was going to go to the Pumpkin Patch with WeeKare, but they cancelled because of the rain. So Auntie Debbie decided to go ahead and take them to the Pumpkin Patch in Lawrenceville. She had bought the girls matching outfits and they were all excited about picking out a pumpkin.
I had to work that day, so I told Debbie to take lots of pictures for me. I hated to miss Maci's first trip to the Pumpkin Patch, but it looked like she had a great time!
Just look at that adorable face! Couldn't you just eat her up?
Here Maci is picking out her very first pumpkin for Halloween 2007.

What a great picture by her pumpkin!

This is a great picture of Maci and Heidy! I just love those smiles!
